چکیده

We study the finite temperature properties of the gauge theory of nonrelativistic fermions introduced by Halperin, Lee, and Read. This gauge theory is relevant to two interesting systems: high-Tc superconductors in the anomalous metallic phase and a two-dimensional electron system in a strong magnetic field at the Landau filling factor ν = 1/2. We calculate the self-energies of both gauge bosons and fermions by the random-phase approximation, showing that the dominant term at low energies is generated by the gauge-fermion interaction. The current-current correlation function is also calculated by the ladder approximation. We confirm that the electric conductivity satisfies the Drude formula and obtain its temperature dependence, which is of a non-Fermi-liquid. e-mail address: [email protected] e-mail address: [email protected]

An Effective Action for Finite Temperature Lattice Gauge Theories with Dynamical Fermions

Dynamical fermions induce via the fermion determinant a gauge-invariant effective action. In principle, this effective action can be added to the usual gauge action in simulations, reproducing the effects of closed fermion loops. Using lattice perturbation theory at finite temperature, we compute for staggered fermions the one-loop fermionic corrections to the spatial and temporal plaquette cou...

Fermionic Schwinger–Keldysh Propagators from AdS/CFT

The Herzog and Son prescription [10] for computing real–time Green functions for finite temperature gauge theories from their gravity dual is generalized to fermions. These notes explain how such an extension involves properties of spinors in a curved, complexified space–time.

Lattice QCD at finite T and μ

Recent results of lattice QCD at finite temperature and density are reviewed. At vanishing density the transition temperature, the equation of state and hadron properties are discussed both for the pure gauge theory and for dynamical staggered, Wilson and overlap fermions. The second part deals with finite density. There are recent results for full QCD at finite temperature and moderate density...

Effective action of a (2+1)-dimensional system of nonrelativistic fermions in the presence of a uniform magnetic field: Dissipation effects.

The effective action of nonrelativistic fermions in 2+1 dimensions is analyzed at finite temperature and chemical potential in the presence of a uniform magnetic field perpendicular to the plane. The method used is a generalization of the derivative expansion technique. The induced Chern-Simons term is computed and shown to exhibit the Hall quantization. Effects of dissipation due to collisions...

Domain wall fermions in vector gauge theories

I review domain wall fermions in vector gauge theories. Following a brief introduction, the status of lattice calculations using domain wall fermions is presented. I focus on results from QCD, including the light quark masses and spectrum, weak matrix elements, the n f = 2 finite temperature phase transition, and topology and zero modes and conclude with topics for future study.
